Leadership Insight and Donald Lim specifically, have partnered with Paramount since 2016 for coaching and leadership development.  He was instrumental in facilitating a workshop with the senior leadership to give us a greater understanding of our working dynamics.  He was able to provide invaluable insights into each of our core leadership skills.

As a result of the workshop, we engaged Donald to provide executive coaching to one of our key leaders.  Over the years, we have been able to see a remarkable improvement in this person whom Donald had helped to shape and develop.  Donald’s timely intervention has helped us to redefine our succession planning.

As an executive coach, Donald has a 360-degree approach, and keeps all stakeholders involved in the process to achieve the desired results.  This is a hallmark of an excellent executive coach who provides positive and constructive inputs to reach the goals of all involved.

I have spent a significant amount of time on self reflection since my teenage years, and thought I knew who I am and what I wanted in life, until I began to speak with Coach Don & Veron. My time with them was so full of ‘wow’ and ‘aha’ moments, it will forever be cherished as a season of the deepest learning about myself and how I viewed the world around me, the effects of which I am still experiencing today.

Donald has crafted such a niche for himself in the world of leadership development.

With a keen ear of experience, an attending devotion and a sharp discerning mind – he knows just the right tools and meticulously selected resources to craft the everyday leader into a distinguished avant-garde to be well sought after. Donald’s fine touch has personally refined the trajectory of my future, help me meaningfully impact the people I lead and submit to; importantly affirmed me into the person I was created to be – a meaningful specific! It is an incredibly precious gift when you find someone that you trust deeply enough to give full access and permission to speak into your life, whether the feedback is positive or constructive. Donald is someone who has repaid that trust and more in my own journey.

The greatest impact that I have experienced through the coaching process with him is in two main areas. Firstly, it helped me to cultivate resilience and strength in my character which enabled me to persevere in my pastoral vocation when it was clear that it was heading to an inevitable end.

Secondly, coaching has brought me a few significant steps forward in my self-awareness as a person and as a leader. In my industry, it’s probably one of the easiest to deceive yourself because all the ‘good work’ you do can hide your flaws. Therefore, every difficult step of changing my paradigm and behaviour has been built on being honest with where my real starting point is, of which Donald has played an invaluable part in.

One area where he has always exceeded my expectations over the years is the heart and empathy that he brings into the coaching process. Beyond just going through methodology and formula, you can trust that he genuinely wants the best for you, and is willing to go to great lengths to help you, even if takes him being vulnerable himself.

The journey with Coach Donald and Veron has been an enriching process. Coaching has provided me a safe space to explore, grow, process my thoughts and discover that the answers are within me! I am now able to identify who I am, my strengths and further develop them better. Each take home action has helped me focus on my desired goals which has led to personal motivation and greater career satisfaction! I’d say the most significant change I’ve come to experience is learning to have self-compassion for myself. The beautiful bonus of coaching is the friendship both coach-cochee has come into.

Doesn’t matter how capable a coach is, without trust, there will not be an impact. There’s something about Donald’s infectious laugh that breaks that barrier, but of course, his unmistakable integrity and transparency precede that!

Donald’s unique blend of corporate acumen and genuine leadership enables him to be incredibly sharp when it comes to addressing key issues. He has an uncanny ability to ask the right questions and to magnify mindsets – be it looking at the big picture or zooming in on the details, but above all, Donald will always draw you back to the love for people – business is always secondary. As Christians, Donald repeatedly reminded us that “God has a plan for your life, not your business”. This has helped us build the most important foundation of any business – purpose. From that, Donald had helped us identify and strengthen our core values, as well as the roles between business partners. Along the way, he also gave us plenty of helpful tools such as the SBI (Situation-Behavior-Impact) framework, to navigate issues at work. Through his objective affirmations and sincere rebukes, Donald shows how he believes in you, often more than you believe in yourself; that is more than anyone can ever ask for from any coach.

My journey with Leadership Insight through a collaboration with Asia Pacific Institute of Coaching (APIC) began with the expectation of a performance coaching corporate programme.  Through Donald Lim, I got much more.

In this journey of life, we each have a deep desire to know the reason for which we exist:  What is my ultimate destination?  What milestones will there be in my life?  What type of person do I want to be in this journey?  These questions are an important part of destination analysis to make sense of why we do what we do each day.

Over the course of several months, Donald masterfully challenged me to think deeply about my long and short term destinations.  Through deep conversations, Donald enabled me to have an appreciation of my innate gifts and abilities, and gain perspective on how challenging situations presented themselves as opportunities to grow and mature.

I was able to have insightful meetings with Donald because of his high level of care and conscientiousness.  With Donald, I was not merely a client or a project, but a person with dreams and aspirations, hope and potential; an eternal being and no less.

People want to be led by leaders who are able to set a compelling destination; leaders who believe in the potential of others.  Donald is a coach playing an important role in the growth of such leaders.
